This Spring there has been countless new trends popping up (for example, the two-toned lip) and recently there has been a new addition to the list. This trend was featured in Cosmopolitan's fashion section as the first photograph in the 'Sliver of Skin' trend article.
I think this one example deserves an entire article! I have watched it's popularity literally explode over the past few weeks from every corner of the fashion world. Beauty vloggers such as MacBarbie07 and StilaBabe09 have been obsessed with the trend in their latest fashion videos, as well as runway fashion designers such as Mara Hoffman, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, and Rufflan in their Spring 2013 shows. Countless fashion boutiques and online shops have also been outfitting models in this trend in order to attract customers, and I have also spotted a few celebs sporting this trend as well!
I am in love with the trend, and think its one of the classiest ways to show skin in the warmer weather. Showing off your lower-stomach can look really great, but I feel like it's a very tired technique; this sliver of skin higher up is definitely way more fresh and unique. When it warms up here (Canada!) I will most definitely be purchasing myself a few cop-tops and high-waisted skirts!
