What Happened: Rogers Cellphone Services Out Across Canada

Report:

The cellphone service Rogers has been down since Wednesday evening (6:30pm ET) across Canada, reportedly from British Columbia all the way to Newfoundland. Reports of service outages include Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, St. John’s and Halifax.

However, the outage is only confirmed by Rogers themselves in Ontario and Quebec.

It is also reported that the text messaging service is down, as well as the Rogers website.

Rogers' Twitter account (@RogersHelps) made this tweet at 6:42pm, addressing the issue:

"We have reports of voice service interruptions affecting wireless customers in ON & QC. We apologize and are working to resolve ASAP."

There is no word yet of when the problem will be resolved, leaving customers without service until further notice.

Additional Thoughts:

I personally believe that, unless they get this situation under control immediately, the same thing will happen to Rogers as it has Blackberry. Many of us can remember the catastrophe that affected Blackberry users, and shortly after that occurence, a large majority of the company's customers abandoned them for other services (such as Apple).

If you have any other information on the subject, please let the rest of us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and hopefully this will be resolved quickly!

Luck & Love,
Kaylee Slater
