Fresh & Edgy Cat Eye Liner

Winged eyeliner, also known as a 'cat eye', is one of the most flattering and versatile makeup tricks you can use in your makeup routine. The cat eye is used to make the lash line appear thicker, your eyes bigger and longer, as well as make you appear more awake. Despite all of these pros, regular winged eyeliner can sometimes get a little boring. To spice things up, today I will be showing you how to achieve a smokier and edgier spin on the cat eye. Lets begin!

Step One:
If you wish, begin with a soft smokey eye. I used Naked and Buck by Urban Decay gently in the crease to create a soft base. Be sure to keep this step to a minimum, as the eye shadow and lip are both very strong.

Step Two:
Load up a very fine angled brush with a black matte eye shadow. I am using Creep by Urban Decay. Then, use Mac Fix+ or any other eye shadow enhancer to create a sharper line. I simply use water. Line your upper lash line normally with the shadow and wing it out at the end. Try to create a more straight cat eye as apposed to one with a deep curve.

Step Three:
Next, drag your brush from the very tip of your wing to the lowermost part of your lower lash line, making sure to keep the line very straight. Fill in your triangle with black shadow. Lastly, take a clean blending brush and smoke out the bottom edge of your shadow thoroughly, being conscious to keep your upper line very clean.

Step Four:
To finish the look as worn above, add a deep purple eyeliner to the outermost corner of your eyes (and tight line your upper lash line fully). I have used Avon Glimmersticks Waterproof Eyeliner in Violet Mist. Lastly, add your favourite mascara  and you're done! (mine is Covergirl Lashblast Mascara in Very Black)

Step Five:
If you want to finish the look as displayed above, simply add an opaque gloss over the lips. I have used Avon Extra Lasting Lip Gloss in Lingering Plum.

Here is a photograph of all the products I used for this look. A list will also be included below.
